Malibu School
Malibu School is an education support school located in Safety Bay as
a part of the south metropolitan education region, which caters to students with
intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory impairments (vision
and hearing), challenging behaviours and/or autistic spectrum disorders.
At the start of 2012 Malibu School's enrolment stood at 98 students aged
between four and eighteen years.
Malibu School strives to create a future without limits for all
students. This is achieved by working as a multi disciplinary team offering
intensive education. Our focus at Malibu School is to deliver first class
teaching and learning through a tailored curriculum which has a focus on each
individual students ability.
Our geographical intake area is large, making this one
of the largest regions for an Education Support School to cover. This requires a
proactive and expert school that can find creative and out of the box thinking
to meet all of the needs of its school community.
Malibu Schools strategic plan for 2012 - 2016 is to:
- Enhance Teaching and Learning for all students through the development of a specialised curriculum formulated from the implementation of the Australian Curriculum.
- Provide all students with a voice through the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
- Develop Behaviour Education which emcompasses Protective Behaviours.
- Create a school that provides specialist facilities through development of current facilities as well as the creation of new building projects.
- Increase community support and help create a community for our students for life during and beyond school.
